This year's theme is, "Eclectic" - A Caribbean Fashion

For 2017, we explore the unique and eccentric influences and creations of the fashion body of UTT CAFD through the events and activities during UTT Fashion Week 2017, all the way to the grand finale, the fourth-year Senior Thesis Show, where the final-year students of the Fashion Design programme will showcase their thesis mini collections.

[Description of event]

The Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design (CAFD) will celebrate the best of its students’ work by hosting the ninth installment of CAFD Art & Design Exhibition, which features original fabric designs, fashion drawings, design concepts and original garments, handbags and jewellery. This exhibition will be on display for the public at large (free of charge) for one week.

[Description of event]

This is a static installation that each graduating student of the Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design (CAFD) sets up to the public to display an envisioned boutique to complement their final collection. This exhibition is also a competition toward the “Student of the Year Award.” Fashion stakeholders, industry professionals, media, corporate and public are invited to attend and also participate in the judging of these spaces.

ECLECTIC: A Caribbean Fashion

[Description of event: Designer Critic Show]

The Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design (CAFD), Designer Critic Show is a collaborative academic exercise between CAFD’s 3rd year BFA in Fashion Design students and T&T’s leading fashion designers. The designer is responsible for setting a project and then lending their expertise and help to a group of 6-7 students. The most successful student designer of each group will receive the Designer’s namesake Award. Names of 2017 collaborating Designers: DIANNE HUNT & SHAUN GRIFFITH PEREZ

[Description of event: Senior Thesis Show]

For the sixth time in 2017 the Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design (CAFD) will present the work from the final year BFA students’ “Thesis Collections.” This will be a representation or collection of each student’s design philosophies as they create capsule collections of 6 to 8 garments from a basic concept to the completion. At the conclusion of each designer collection, the “Student of the Year” award (voted on by the programme professionals) will be presented.
